Katwamba Mutale is a London based photographer. Zambia born and raised in Sheffield. His work draws on themes of identity, sexuality and diversity informed by his diasporic upbringing. He creates work that is aesthetically captured, creative and potent offering a fresh and cultural perspective to the industry. Katwamba took up photography as an academic subject and went to study photography at the University of Sunderland. After a year of the degree, he moved to London and transferred to UAL’s London College of Fashion where is he currently taking his degree in fashion photography after being more drawn to the course and London’s creative scene.
Katwamba has been a part of Fashion Minority Report’s Creative Change Makers campaign in 2022, to help launch the HUB, an initiative helping to reshape the industry by providing resources to young diverse talent. The campaign garnered recognition by ShowStudio, 10Magazine and The Industry Fashion. He was also named as an Emerging Talent by the founder Daniel Peters.
In 2022, Mutale’s work was selected to be of part Kruizenga Art College permanent collection and is planned to be showcased in the summer. His work has been exhibited virtually in 2021 as part of a selected group show curated by The Holy Art Gallery.
